1) Optional Birgu Evening Tour: Wednesday 12th September 2023

The excursion departs from Valletta, where group will catch ferry to the three cities. A walking tour of Birgu will follow, allowing the group to admire the narrow medieval streets and beautiful harbour views. Birgu served as the first seat of the Order of St John upon their arrival in Malta in 1530 and was honoured with the title of Città Vittoriosa after the victory of the 1565 siege. The walking tour will be followed by dinner in one of the historic buildings of the city. Transport back to Valletta will be provided after dinner.

(2) Optional tour of Mdina & Ħagar Qim Archaeological Park: Saturday 15th September 2023

The excursion departs from Valletta at c. 09:30hrs to Mdina, the old capital city of Malta. Commonly referred to as the Silent City, Mdina is a true architectural gem with its impressive façades and beautiful views from the bastion walls. After a walking tour of Mdina, the group will proceed to Wied iż-Żurrieq, one of the Maltese Islands’ most splendid cliff sides. Free time will be given for lunch and, weather permitting, participants may also opt for a boat ride to see the Blue Grotto (extra). In the afternoon the group will visit Ħagar Qim and Mnajdra Archaeological Park, one of the most impressive prehistoric monuments in the Mediterranean. The tour includes also a visit to the interesting centre recently set up on site. Transport departs from the archaeological park at c. 15:45hrs to Valletta.
